MORE
Louise Brealey studied history at Cambridge University, before studying acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Manhattan, New York City, joining alumni such as Robert De Niro, Alec Baldwin, Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson and Brandon Lee. She had further tutelage under noted clown and theatrical trainer Philippe Gaulier.
Louise has split her acting between stage and television. Her theatrical debut was in 2001 in 'Sliding with Suzanne' at the Royal Court Theatre in Sloane Square, Chelsea. Since then, Louise appeared in multiple plays across the UK, as well as an off Broadway tour of 'After the End' in the United States and Russia. In 2012 Louise appeared in the comedy 'Birthday' at the Royal Court Theatre, and pulled triple performance duty in 'The Trojan Women' at The Gate Theatre.
On television, she appeared in the long running medical drama 'Casualty' on BBC One in 2002, appearing in ninety six episodes as student nurse and single mother Roxanne Bird, before departing in the series in late 2004. Afterwards, she appeared in the BBC serialisation of Charles Dickens' 'Bleak House' opposite Phil Davis, as well as 'Hotel Babylon', 'Law and Order: UK', and has appeared in both series of 'Sherlock' as sweet yet frustrated Molly Hooper.
Away from acting, Louise also works in journalism. Writing critical material and features since her teens, her work has graced the pages of Premiere UK, Empire, Total Film, and The Face. Louise was the deputy editor of Wonderland magazine up until early 2009.
